Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District is looking for applicants to join its Board of Directors. We are especially seeking representation from across the district, reaching as far north as Hornepayne and as far east as Algoma Mills, Spragge, Spanish, and Serpent River.
This is a rewarding opportunity to give back to your community and help guide the governance of Crime Stoppers.
Applicants must be:
At least 18 years old
Not a member of law enforcement, criminal justice, government, or an elected official
Willing to undergo a background check and screening
Available 5–10 hours per month
As a director, you will:
Uphold the bylaws of the organization
Attend monthly board meetings
Plan and support fundraising events and activities
Represent Crime Stoppers in the community
Serve on at least one committee
Offer advice and assistance in your areas of expertise
Serve the organization with integrity
All directors begin with a three-month probationary period and are provided with bylaws, policies, and past minutes for orientation. Within this time, training sessions are held with both the Coordinators and Membership Committee, and each new director is paired with a mentor for additional support.
Interested candidates are asked to submit a letter of intent, application, and resume to the attention of the Membership Committee at info@saultcrimestoppers.com. The application form is available for download here:
